87 million pairs of shoes end up in landfills yearly. In their Amsterdam-based clubhouse, customers can recycle their old footwear in return for a discount. They then hand over these pairs to their recycling partner, who will separate the upper from the outsole and, in turn, use them to create materials for new textiles, playgrounds, and outdoor sports fields.
No toxics materials can be found in these products.
Mercer works with a small amount of factories that are vetted and checked regularly by audit partners and themselves. The visits occur at least once every year.
