About The Company

Get the ins and outs

WakaWaka is a Dutch social enterprise founded in 2012 by Maurits Groen and Camille van Gestel. The company’s name means “shine bright” in Swahili.

The company has a social mission to provide access to clean, affordable energy in developing countries. Their goal is to make solar solutions available to families who live in extreme poverty, in remote regions, or who are forced to leave their homes because of war, natural disasters or other reasons.

You can also support them with donations monthly, per quarter or yearly.

“To provide solar power to families caught in crisis and living without access to electricity.”
