What does this brand sell?
Riley was founded during the COVID-19 lockdown with their aim to create an eco-friendly alternative for plastic period products, that are safe for the planet and get delivered to your doorstep. Their mission goes beyond sustainability, and Riley wants to change period poverty. Between 50-65% of kenyan girls don’t have access to proper sanitary products. Riley has therefore partenered with a charity in Kenya to provide young girls with sanitary products and educate them on menstrual health.

All tampons and pads are compostable, packaging is compostable too, and tampon applicators are recyclable, minimising period waste. Even when putting the used products in the normal waste bin, they will break down over time too.
No toxins, bleach or other chemicals are used in the production of the tampons. Using organic cotton rather than conventional cotton does not use any fertilisers, herbicides or pestidices.
The GOTS certification ensures that not only the cotton is pure and made without chemical pesticides, but also safeguards the workers and ensures that there is no forced labour, child labour or unfair wages. All manufacturers throughout the entire supply chain have to adhere to strict codes of conduct.
Moreover, Riley has partnered with an Irish registered charity called Development Pamoja’s to develop disadvantaged communities in rural Kenya by sponsoring a menstruation education programme for school girls. They currently reach 1000 school girls receiving talks twice a year. They have also committed to supplying these girls with sanitary products, as well as stocking Development Pamoja’s medical clinics with sanitary products.
