What does this brand sell?
Rapanui was set up by brother Mart and Rob Drake-Knight in early 2018 in the UK. Clothing is made from natural organic fabrics in a Fair Wear Foundation audited factory and the company aims to change the entire fashion industry. The products are made from natural materials, using renewable energy, and everything made is designed from the start to be sent back when it is worn out, making it a circular supply chain.
“To redesign the clothing industry, and to make clothing sustainable.”

10% of worldwide CO2 emissions come from the clothing industry. Rapaniu is certified net carbon neutral and apart from using renewable energy in their operations, they also plant trees with their international partners to reduce and offset their carbon footprint.
Rapanui uses a solar farm and power manufacturing operations with renewables. The factory in India is powered by wind and solar energy. Their web servers in the cloud also run on renewables. Lastly, the factory technology saves energy by dynamically turning machines on and off
The fields where the organic cotton is grown are in India, where the monsoons fill reservoirs that supply almost all the water needed.
Additionally, the water from where the Rapanui products are dyed is recovered, cleaned, and recirculated. About 95% of the water is recirculated and recovered.
By partnering with different organisations, Rapanui is helping maintain and improve the biodiversity of the oceans and land. To read more about the projects, you can check out their blog.
Did you know that 40% of the mass-produced clothing is never worn? Rapanui is a circular company where each item is designed to be sent back when worn out, and afterward, they make new products from the material that’s recovered. You can find information on this inside every product on the wash care label.
Products are printed in real time, seconds after they are ordered, meaning that there is no over-production, which most likely will lead to more waste.
No toxic materials such as pesticides and fertilisers are used in the growing of organic cotton. Additionally, no hazardous chemicals are used or discharged during the printing of the products.
As part of their GOTS certification our supply chain is audited to ensure safe, positive and fair working conditions and pay.
