MyVegan partners with RePurpose Global, which is a charity committed to reducing plastic waste in oceans and landfill. This means that they fund actions to remove plastic from the environment, resulting in a net-zero plastic footprint. Hard-to-recycle products will also be collected and repurposed. Furthermore, for each product, they have a list of what parts can be recycled and how, and their future plans for the packaging. For example, peanut butter lids and libs are recyclable as well as their box, and they aim to build a system in which the neck sleeve and label can be sent back for melting and re-purposing. In all pill bottle packaging, 50% of the materials are recycled.
Moreover, in 2023 they launched a vegan protein powder made with upcycled barley and rice. These grains leftover from the beer brewing industry would otherwise go to waste.
No toxic materials are present in the manufacturing of these products.
Through their collaboration with rePurpose Global, which not only helps them be net-zero in plastic, they also help to fund vetted programs, that support communities in Goa, India.
MyVegan has taken clear measures to protect their staff from Covid-19, including imposing a ban on travel and external meetings since mid-Jan 2020, and 90% of their office is home based. Safeguarding measures at manufacturing and distribution sites go beyond government guidelines to ensure safety and maintain social distancing. One of those measures is to provide ready-to-cook ingredient meal packs at the end of their staff’s shifts to feed at least a family of four, reducing the need to visit supermarkets.
Apart from Covid-19 related staff protection, they have a zero-tolerance approach to modern slavery and are committed to acting ethically and with integrity in all business dealings and working relationships.
