ECONYL® regenerated nylon not only helps to reduce the amount of waste in landfills and oceans but also lessens the environmental impact associated with the production of new nylon, such as crude oil extraction.
They are also planning to calculate the carbon footprint of each of their products to better understand their impact. However, this has not happened yet.
Lilja uses a coworking space as their office and an external warehouse shared with other vendors for warehousing and logistics. This makes them share energy costs with others.

Swimwear is made from recycled materials. ECONYL® regenerated nylon is made by regenerating and transforming discarded plastics into high-quality nylon fabric. The process involves collecting various nylon waste materials, such as discarded ocean plastics, fabric scraps, industrial plastic, and other valuable resources.
They also have started a programme with second hand swimwear, to be able to elongate the life cycle and avoid further waste.
Furthermore, Lilja never discards returned items, photoshoot samples or faulty items. Returned items go through a careful manual inspection and are re-sold. Samples and 2nd quality items are sold at their store in Helsinki with a discount.
No toxic materials are used in the manufactuing process of these products.
