CO2 emissions were measured in 2021 (a total of 3,295 tonnes) and actively reduced throughout the production and supply chain, leading to only 3,042 tonnes of CO2 equivalents in 2022. The biggest contributor to their emissions are the impact of raw materials and jewellery production. They have developed a Reduction Action Plan and aim for net-zero emissions and eventually, net-negative emissions. They have been Climate Neutral certified since 2020.
They offset their carbon emissions through Protection Projects, including replacing charcoal stoves with more efficient stones in Uganda, and providing rural developing communities in China with biogas digesters.
By using recycled gold, BRUNA reduces their CO2 footprint.

They support biodiversity conservation as part of their Positive Impact Fund objective, aiming to reduce the impact of their products and packaging.
No plastic is used for packaging and they mainly use recycled, upcycled and FSC-certified materials. Regarding the pearls, they use discarded oysters for their Monther of Pearl, the sparkling inner layer that protects the oyster. They have recently started using imperfect pearls that would otherwise have been discarded in their jewellery, too.
Only water-based inks are used for their packaging.
All pieces are handcrafted in small-scale, family-owned and ethically run factories. Their artisians are provided with safe and healthy working conditions, including an adequate wage, a decent work-life balance and time off, without child labour. All suppliers including themselves are part of the Responsible Jewellery Council which monitors human rights, labour rights, environmental impact and mining practises. They carefully monitor where their metals come from: they source recycled gold and silver supported by an appropriate chain of custody documentation or those that come from artisanal mining communities (fair-trade certified gold, fair mined certified gold, or through The Impact Facility).
Additionally, their team consists of 83% women including 9 nationalities, and they foster a equitable, diverse and inclusive work environment.
BRUNA the label released their environmental, social and governance impact report in 2023.
