Basq was born with a passion for surf, fashion and concern for the environment. Created in Spain and after over two years of research, Basq managed to transform some of the ocean’s worst waste like plastic and types, into 100% recycled fashion such as clothing and sneakers. Since the beginning, Basq has designed its products without compromising quality or comfort, using innovative technologies and manufacturing techniques.
“Not to harm, but benefit the environment through our products, ways of working and profits. We want to be part of the change that we want in the world and we want you to be part too.”
Saved over 53,650 recycled plastic bottles, 2000 types and over 1.15 million litres of fresh water (2023).

When using recycled materials, 75% fewer greenhouse gases are being emitted compared to conventional products. Producing 1Kg of recycled polyester reduces CO2 emissions by 56% in comparison to the same amount of unmodified polyester.
By using recycled materials, 85% less energy is being consumed. Moreover, 50% of the energy used to recycle the polyester in Basq’s shoes and to make them comes from solar energy.
By using recycled materials Basq has saved over 1 million litres of fresh water. This is because growing the necessary cotton consumes unimaginable amounts of water.
The shoes save 1700 litres of fresh water, while by making a t-shirt, this number increases to 2700. Lastly, to make a sweater, Basq saves up to 6700 litres of water, and 7200 for sweatshirts.

In the last century, tyres were used to create artificial reefs at the bottom of the sea, which has caused the destruction of huge areas of the seafloor and the massive contamination of the oceans. Additionally, if everything stays the same, there will be more plastic than fish in the sea by 2050, and currently, around 700 species of sea organisms are affected by this. Also, more than a million birds and more than 100,000 sea mammals have died as a result of plastic ending up in the oceans. By using recycled materials, Basq is avoiding that more of these end up in our oceans and landfills.
Did you know that 91% of plastic is not recycled and will never be, ending in landfills and our oceans? 8 million tons of plastic end up in oceans every year. When it comes to types, around 300,000 of these are used every year and only a small part is recycled. Regarding textile waste, usually, 5 to 8% is actually recycled.
Basq’s products are made from recycled plastic bottles and they have managed to use over 53,600 of these by 2023. Another material used are recycled tyres, and Basq has used over 2000 for the manufacturing of the shoes’ soles.
The shoes are made from 6 recycled plastic bottles and the soles from recycled tyres. Moreover, 8 recycled bottles are used for the t-shirts, 19 for the sweaters, and 21 for the sweatshirts.
No chemical products nor pesticides are used in the manufacturing process of these products.
Basq guaranteed fair working conditions for workers.
