About The Company

Get the ins and outs

Artic Blue is a Dutch company with a mission to create sustainable, clean and fresh omega 3 supplements. They are one of the few European companies that produce fish oil 100% based on byproducts of the fishing industry. Therefore, they don’t catch any additional fish to produce their oils. Moreover, they offer vegan alternatives based on algae. They have three key principles in terms of quality: their fish oil has to be clean (i.e. the fish are sourced from clean waters instead of heavily polluted seas and the oil gets purified), fresh (with low oxidation values) and natural (not synthetic).

Regular companies source their fish from South America which often only gets transported to Europe through North America or Asia. Arctic blue sources their fish within the Arctic circle, which therefore shortens transportation routes and reduces the associated emissions.

Standard companies in the fish oil industry use anchovies or sardines (a key food source for marine mammals and birds) from South America to extract the oil. Approx. 30 fish are needed to create one capsule. At Arctic Blue, they do not catch any fish themselves, but 100% use leftovers from the fishing industry that takes place in the Arctic, using only wild salmon and pollock.

The fish is caught in one of the cleanest waters, and therefore contain a minimal amount of toxins. If toxins are detected they purify the oil with advanced techniques, ensuring the oil is safe for kids and pregnant parents.
