Anekdot avoids plastics every time possible. When they do receive plastic, they either give it back to the sender to reuse (while questioning their choice of material) or they reuse it somehow in the studio.
It is estimated that approximately 10-20% of textiles are wasted during standard garment manufacture. By using materials from fashion industry deadstock, end-of-lines and off-cuts, Anekdot saves textiles that are otherwise destined for landfill.
The material that Anekdot buys and is not used for one reason or another, they donate or sell to other local creatives or fully donate to art and education refugee projects. If they cannot be donated, they go to projects of their own: small accessories, special patchworks and pillow filling.
Anekdot keeps stock levels low and produces on demand to avoid unsold stock and therefore, further waste. Lastly, they support garment repair and offer repair services to avoid further waste.
